Interim Campus
When the new Del Buono Elementary School campus construction
had been delayed, the Gilroy Unified School District contacted
us to develop an interim campus to house the students until
the permanent campus could be completed. The district asked
ImageWorks to develop a campus for 100 students by utilizing
relocatable classrooms that would not be in a row on a playground.
We therefore envisioned a central raised plaza, landscaping,
and trellises to enhance the aesthetics of the relocatable classrooms.
The project was completed in 4 1/2 months from the initial
request by the district for the architect to design this project
to building occupancy, thus meeting the district’s goals
of schedule and aesthetics.
The depth of ImageWorks experience with relocatable classroom
projects, a 12 year working relationship with the DSA team,
and an excellent facilities team at the district made this
solution viable for the district. Other solutions may have
worked, but we believe they would have provided a less desirable
learning environment for the children.
